The Glass Menagerie is a  semi-autobiographical memory story set in St Louis in the 1930s. Recalling the pained family love between narrator Tom Wingfield, who aspires to be a poet, his emotionally fragile sister, Laura and their domineering mother Amanda. The arrival of a dinner guest, referred to as ‘The Gentleman Caller’, does not go according to anyone’s plans.
